Introduction to Ceramics

Introduction to Ceramics

Two days ago I met Iva Ivanova. She is a master of ceramics.
It helped me understand the matter of the earth even better. Rasho Mitev, who is a wonderful and inspiring sculptor, introduced me to her.I went to the studio in Plovdiv, we spent hours talking about beauty, the environment of artists and many other exciting and sincere topics. As dusk began to fall, she took out a piece of clay and gave me the opportunity to feel the connection between man and the earth. There is a great magic between soil and human hands. They are in absolute control of each other. The hands guide the form and the clay guides the hands. Today I'm back at Iva's to finish what we started. Last time I told about myself and my works with natural pigment, she was delighted and gave me some types of soil from archeological excavations. I would never forget that gesture. She is a wonderful person, smiling, positive and energizing. Unfortunately, I don't live in Plovdiv and we would rarely meet. I am considering purchasing a pottery kiln and expanding my creative range of abilities. Before, however, I take up this broad craft, I will turn a page to watercolor. Before Mom passed away, I remember her telling me that this was one of the most difficult fine art techniques. I had started a custom landscape, but it took me days and some pretty wasted leaves to get the finished result. For years after that I practiced but switched to acrylic paints because there was more interest. Today I decided to challenge because of mom's words. I just know how proud she would be if I had the patience to master the technique perfectly. She herself was a watercolor virtuoso.
